An adult is a human being or any other animal that has reached complete growth.The biological definition of the word means the animal has reached sexual maturity and thus capable of reproducing. Adults are social concepts as well as a legal concept in the human world. As opposed to "minor" or "non-adult" legally-aged adult refers to a person who is a an age at which they are majority. They are regarded as competent, responsible and independent. Also, they can be described as an "major". The average age at which you can attain legally adulthood is 18 but the definition can vary based on laws, countries as well as the stage of psychological development.

The age of adulthood marks the point that the person is at maturity both in physical and mental development. Commonly, adulthood begins around the age of 21 or 20. The typical middle-age starts at 40 or so years old, followed by a period of around 60. Young adulthood starts between age of 18 and 30. The middle age stage begins from the mid-30s through to the 60s. Late adulthood starts at the mid-60s. The physical maturation process is complete by the time we reach our early adulthood years (20-40s) but the weight and height may rise a bit. As we grow older, we are at the peak of our physical capabilities.
